Hi, Just wanted to give a warning to those that purchase their LC from Home Depot. I have been purchasing my liquid chlorine from Home Depot for the last 6 or 7 years, and unfortunately, I have had very poor luck the last few months with the quality of their chlorine. A gallon of 10% chlorine usually raises my FC about 4PPM, but I have noticed that this hasn't been the case lately. It has ranged from 2-3 PPM per gallon over the last couple of months and this last batch that I bought (20 bottles) a gallon only raised it .75 PPM. I smelled the liquid and it barely has any smell to it. The bottles were date stamped at the 30th week of this year, which is about 4+ months old. Not sure if 4 months is within a reasonable time or not, since I haven't had to pay attention in the past. Very disappointed. My location is Tucson, AZ. Not bashing Home Depot. I am a contractor and purchase quite a bit of material from Home Depot and will continue. Just not chlorine.

Home Depot stores the liquid chlorine outside. Elevated temperatures rapidly degrade the chlorine concentration.
Walmart stores the product inside. Thus it tends to be better at holding its chlorine levels.

I have noticed the same issue! The same amount of 10% chlorine moves the needle less than previous years.
My pool supplies and testing kits are currently stored in a garage space, I will moving them indoors.

I have an indoor room . . . sort of. It’s a storage room in the basement that is under the front porch. It’s neither heated or cooled but maintains a respectable temp all year long within 10 degrees between winter and summer. The LC I purchased in early June was still quite effective in mid-October. I keep my reagents there in the off-season and had no degradation so far.

Reagents do not degrade the way liquid chlorine does.
Liquid chlorine begins degrading as soon as it is bottled.

True enough. The point was to use a controlled storage area so the degradation process isn’t exacerbated.
