Hi, I've got a high-pressure switch in my Aquacal Heatwave SQ110 with a damaged wire. The correct replacement part according to Aquacal is STK0074, though the original was RES0018, but I've had trouble sourcing the replacement part. This part is the same one used to replace the switch in newer models too.

It's 600CO / 445 CI. Any idea what part I can use in it's place? I found some various switches on Amazon that are similar but not 100% a match, but wondering if there is a known / preferred solution for this.

@OolDad, your profile reports your location as Florida. (A fine state …it’s not Texas, but a fine state indeed.)

Anyhow the data @JamesW has pointed out appears to jive with my thinking. It’s a high pressure cutout switch. Any HVAC supply house should have them available locally, as they are a basic part of the safety circuit on air conditioners these days and go out from time to time.

For the Florida specific part - Baker Distributing is the big HVAC supply house in the florida market if my memory serves. Go throw that part up on the desk and ask them for a new 600/445 HP cut out switch. Any supply house should be able to get one for you. (The flare fitting probably isn’t as common as the brazed in one, but they’re not uncommon. Try not to go higher on the cut-out PSI rating, but you have a little wiggle room on the cut in pressure if you need to get by in a pinch and can’t find a direct replacement.)

Or you can order from supplyhouse.com. I order from them pretty regularly and they are fast (which is saying something given my location at the end of the world.)

If all else fails, call a favorite HVAC tech. Tell him you have a cutout switch that needs to be replaced in a heat pump circuit. He may darn well have one on the truck and can swap it for you on the spot.

Also, you didn’t really mention how badly the wire was damaged. If it’s back to the potting, then you’re probably better off swapping the part, but if it is just the wire having rubbed through the insulation 4 inches away from the switch, just cut the bad part out and splice it back together with whatever you’ve got on hand. You’re working with 24V, so its pretty idiot tolerant. I can’t tell you how many A/Cs I’ve seen that seem to be wired with a combo of bubble gum and weasel spit.
