High CYA level - what to do first?

Just did the diluted test, shows reading of 60 so if I double that, means my true CYA is 120 now? :(

Yes. provided your dilution was accurately 50/50. Anyway you cut it your CYA is still very high and you need to continue draining.

** UPDATE **
After fighting with algae the last few weeks, decided to bite the bullet and drain the pool once again.. and I drained about 95% of it this time. I drained it so far, I was able to walk across the deepest end, and it was about ankle deep! Before draining it I brushed the pool really good and backwashed the filter as it was time for that also. After filling it back up, I added 2 bottles of 6% bleach after I turned the pump on last night. I tested the water this morning and here were my results:

FC = 0
PH - 7.5
CYA = 0

I know I need to add some CYA and would like to maintain it at 40. Should I just by some add it to the skimmer, or using the sock method in front of a return jet?

Any other suggestions would be helpful. I have a bucket full of tablets for sell if anyone is interested, I am going 100% with chlorine from now on! :cool: LOL.. I know I may need some from time to time if we are gone, but will not be using them as my only source like I have been in the past.

Use the sock method to add cya. Or you could add about 30 PPM of cya, and then use the tablets to slowly raise it up higher from there. You can use pool math to determine how much cya each 8 oz tablet of trichlor will add to your pool.
