High Chlorine Production

I have a pool pilot nano + that seems to be over producing chlorine. the pool is 17k gallons, and typically a setting on the Nano of 65-70% would maintain the pool in the 2-3 ppm free Chlorine. Now it is set at 12% and the Chlorine is 8 ppm and climbing. The unit seems to cycle, and there does not appear to be voltage at the cell when the controls says it is off. When it is on i get a lot of bubbles in the return water, indicating strong electrolysis. Any thoughts on what to look at next.

How are you testing your pool water chemistry?

How long are you running your SWCG each day?

The Autopilot Digital Nano + will add 0.3 ppm FC per hour to your pool at 100% generation.

I would suspect your testing is not accurate. I suggest getting a proper test kit, Test Kits Compared. The best value for a residential pool is the TF100 from TFTestkits.net.

Your pool consumes more than the 0.4 ppm FC your SWCG is generating.

And 'hayward'

OK - please update your signature with test kit and SWCG type.

How old is the R0870 powder? Is it dark in color?
