Hi Everyone!

Our pump usually runs around 10-15 psi. Anything over that and we know we need to backwash/rinse, etc. Just the other day it started rising up to 20-25 psi and it is now hovering there. I unplugged it last night to let it calm down but we cannot figure out why it is so high. There is nothing in the basket and there is nothing in the skimmer. Any thoughts on what else could be causing this?

I have a Hayward Super Pump 1hp

Thanks so much!

I have backwashed multiple times and we even switched the valve to the main drain instead and it didn't make a difference. I think that I will try getting a new gauge tomorrow when the pool store opens. I'll also get some numbers. We did just increase CYA over the last couple weeks. We did it rather slowly. I'll get the numbers posted on here a little later this evening. Thank you both!

You can get better pressure gauges at Home Depot or Lowes or TFTestkits.net.

Does the gauge go to zero when you turn off the pump?

Increasing CYA wouldn't make a difference unles you poured it into the skimmer but backwashing would have flushed most of it out
What is the flow like on the returns? if it's just the same then as before as previously suggested it could be your gauge
