Hi Everybody. We finally got our pool built. I wish I knew this forum when we were in the early bidding stages as we may have done some things different. But thats ok. Nothing that can't can be upgraded later.

We built a small rectangular pool 12x24x4 around 8000 Gal, SWG, 2 HP Pump w /2 Speed from Jandy. See picture below.

The chemistry guy came for the last time as part of the built last week. I decided to maintain the chemistry myself so I took samples to a Pool Store near my house and I'm currently adding muriatic acid to get the PH right. I got a cheap kit as part of the pool; I read everybody here uses the TF-100 so I will probably get that one.

Future projects is a heater (heat recovery is something i'm looking at as our AC runs almost 24x7x365) and a deck expansion.

Look forward in learning about pools in this forum.

Very nice Gabriel! Welcome to TFP! Yes, the TF-100 is highly recommended for its exceptional value. I would also recommend including the "Magnetic Speed Stir" in your order. Mix like a pro. :stirpot: You won't regret it. Great to have you with us.

FLORIDA IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH yeah!

What a pretty back yard you have! I love it!

You will love having your own test kit. What is fun:roll: is doing your own tests (that are all spot on) then taking the same water to the Pool $tore and seeing how much they want to charge you to "fix" your water.

Welcome:DYet another small pool:D We have a small pool or Spool aka Social Pool. Stick around here. These guys are great and ask plenty of questions.

How long do you all think I should run the pump for?

The builder says 5hrs in high and the rest in low. Based on what I read it seems excessive. My pump is a Jandy 2.0-.25HP and its only 8k gallons and the temp this time of the year is around 75.

Also is it ok to run it only at night while is not being used?

Thanks everybody!

Take a look at the TFP Pool School - Determine Pump Run Time page. But in short, you run your pump long enough to mix chemicals, create FC (if you have an SWG), and as needed to skim surface debris from the pool. Every pool is different, so go ahead and adjust run time to fit your needs and local conditions.
