I used to tell folks I interviewed, I don't really care where you went to school, "I am looking for people who work hard and take pride in what they do. We can teach you how to underwrite, but we cannot teach you to have a strong work ethic. That was or wasn't ingrained long ago". We used to take a person we were considering hiring out to lunch. Why, see how they treat the wait staff, you find out a lot about someone in a setting like that. The scripted bs goes away and you see who they are. Another good one would be to observe them at a grocery store, if they leave the cart in the parking lot or prop it up on a belgian block, pass on em because laziness cannot be unlearned!!
