Help with SLAM

I am slamming my pool, I started a few days ago, and have been adding 10% gallons of chlorine from Walmart. I did not to a CYA test before hand, and my notes are less than optimal. But basically I have 1 27,000 gallon Vinl pool, there was a lot of algae, in the last 3 days, all the algae is gone, but the water is cloudy and during the day, I am losing all of my chlorine. Yesterday I added 3 gallons and was at 15 ppm FC, and in the evening added 2 more. This am I was at 12 ppm, and now in the eventing I am at 2ppm. Is it too late to do a CYA test? Why else could I be cloudy? Also I live in a very big farm area, where they do put down a ton of glycophospate, etc... Could that have an effect?

Thanks
Don

Refer to this chart. I suspect one of two things could be happening: Either you have a very low CYA and the FC is getting burned off by the sun quickly; or you have a much higher CYA than you realize and the FC is nowhere high enough to consume the organics.

I just did the CYA test and it didn't even register. So, what do I do to add stablizlier? I have a bunch of Shock, but I assume there is a better way.

Yes, add granular stabilizer using the sock method. Add 30 ppm worth in a sock and let it soak in the pool for 30 min. I place my sock in the skimmer. Then take the sock over to the return jets and squeeze it all out. Done. You can get granular stabilizer at Walmart, Home Depot, it online.

Ok, here is where I am at.

CYA: 50
FC: 6
CC: 1
TA: 90
PH: 7.5

Everything is still cloudy. I had the trichlor pucks in there, but will take them out now that I read more about the problem. Ill go get some more liquid chlorine.

so I guess I still need to SLAM?

Well, I am 3 days in and water is still cloudy. Not any algea, just cloudy. CC is like .5, I am seeing sand/dirt in the pool vacuum and also on the steps. Been running pool vacuum non stop, and it seems to be clearing up, but not sure. Any ideas?

So last night at 10PM the FC was 21. This morning at 7:15 it was 17.5. The CC is registering pretty low at only 1cc. I hope it just takes patience and I don't have another problem.
