Hey everyone. So I finally got my kit and got my subscription to pool math. I have my numbers in order but I have a minor snag.
My pool manufacturer wants 1ppm fc for the shell. I had it running high like 4s and had some bleaching so I'm trying to get it down. Here's my dilemma: my swg is a saltron reliant 25k that was reprogrammed for a 15k unit, my pool is only a 6k pool. I've noticed that a daily check of Chlorine is showing at 8 hours a day on the lowest setting I'm over producing 1ppm fc. Not running it for a day drops it 1ppm FC. So I'm running at the lowest setting for 4 hours a day until it's being used more will keep it at the ideal level (I'm aimimg for 2 because 1 seems low to me). Now a 6k pool, with a 3/4 hp single stage pump running for only 4 hours a day..... am I turning over the water long enough? I plan on getting another system when this one dies but for now it's what I have. Thanks everyone

Turnover is meaningless. If you have tons of spring crud blowing in the pool, running 24/7 may not be enough for the filtration to keep up. Mid July you'l probably need less than 4 hours of filtration per day.

SWG production requirements are similar. The season starts with low UV losing 1FC a day (low SWG pump time to achieve) and will increase to up to 4 FC per day lost (more swg / pump time).

4 hours of either is only a part of the equation and doesn't tell the whole story.

The chemicals need 15 to 30 minutes to mix, twice a day is even better. The SWG runtime or filtration needed varies across the season or even by the week.

I guess I should have summed that up more simply.. is 4 hrs enough time to cycle 6k gal pool with a 3/4 pump?

I posted the above links because we don't recommend putting a random quantity of chlorine in your pool. CYA levels dictate the FC levels. You'll find that information useful for all aspects of pool care.
