Help With Choosing Spa Equipment

Hello, we currently have a 390 gallon in ground fiberglass spa (2 line system). At the recommendation of our local pool company, we replaced the equipment recently (Jandy JNIQ 260k BTU heater, Jandy VSFloPro2.7hp, Jandy CV Cartridge Filter, Jandy Aquiline TCX Automation, Clear Comfort CCM50, Frog Floating Chlorine Delivery).

The system is not working well. The jet flow is very slow, even with a 2.7hp pump, the filter is not getting above 3psi and the spa is not drawing any floating debris into the catch basin. I'm guessing that it's due to the Clear Comfort causing resistance on the return line of the system, so I'll likely ask them to remove the Clear Comfort system. They pushed very hard on Jandy equipment instead of Pentair and other manufacturers.

With that being said, is there a way for me to maintain the mineral, PH and chlorine levels with an automated system (whether Jandy or another automation system)? Is there a way to limit the amount of chlorine used (sensitive skin) in an automated way as well?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to TFP.

No. There are no accurate and reliable chemical automated systems for a spa.

If you put 30 ppm of CYA ion your spa it will reduce the amount of active chlorine to a low level.

dpj,

What specific pump do you have?? 2.7 HP sounds like a VS pump to me.

Can you control the speed the pump is running? Do you know how fast the pump is running?

Show us a pic of the pump.

Filter pressure is backwards from what you think. Low pressure means no resistance to flow, the higher the pressure, the more resistance to flow there is.

Thanks,

Jim R.
