Hello everyone my name is Mike,
First time pool owner. I’m redoing my patio and while I’m at it I’m redoing my pool. The waterline tile is old along with the coping and the finish inside.
Im not new to handyman work or plumbing for that matter. So I’ve cut and trenched my concrete patio to redo all the plumbing for the jets, skimmer, and vacuum line and am moving my pool equipment behind a corner of the house.
Where I am running into some confusion is specing out what equipment to buy since my current filter is wayyy undersized for the pool, my light is shot, and my pump is on its way out. Plus I want to change over to salt water. I’ve tried to research the forum as much as possible to avoid asking questions and wasting time of others, but I think I have just run myself in circles. My pool is 16k gallons and not in a screen enclosure and am looking at using the following equipment. My understanding with variable speed pumps is to go as big as you can afford because theoretically it should be more energy efficient.
Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF 3hp
Pentair 420sq ft clean and clear cartridge filter
Pentair IC-40 salt cell with power supply
Pentair Architecture Series multi color light 120v
Pentair intellivalve valve actuator.
Originally my plan was to get the pump with the I/o board to control the led pool light and to run a intellivalve valve for the vacuum line. That way it could open the valve for the vac line at the same time as the pump would ramp up, and then once the pump slowed back down it would close the vac line to keep all the flow coming from the skimmer. Does this setup make sense? Can I control the intellivalve and the led pool light just fine with the pump I/o or should I get an eachtouch system to control everything? Just want to make sure before I spend all of this money.
Thank you all and sorry for the long winded post. I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving
