Hey there, I have one of the new Intex Clearview pools - and I'm trying to figure out where to put both the skimmer and the return. Most of the pool at the right height is a clear strip. Its thicker than the wall vinyl, but I'm wary of cutting it, which means I have about a 2 ft section to put both the skimmer and return, unless I put them 16ft apart, which means some long plumbing.

Followup: The stock ports on this thing are something like 1.25" rubber nipples sticking out. Small and feel kinda useless for the tiny stock pump. I upgraded to a sand/salt system, and the heyward return is much larger, so I'll need to cut the liner. Should I cut a larger hole in the existing re-enforced area (basically removing the existing tiny inlet hose)? Can I also put the skimmer beside it, but point the eye away from the skimmer? Or is that too many holes in too close a proximity? I *could* put the skimmer all the way on the other side, but thats a lot of plumbing to run.

Put the skimmer on the other side. That is not a lot of plumbing and PVC is not expensive.

Until you get a run over 100' the pump does not care about a long level run.

And if you have a long run you just use larger pipe.

Run 2" PVC and it will work fine.

So, due to the nature of this pool style, the entire circumference has extra seams because of the Clearview style. Because of this, there's no way to install the skimmer without cutting into a seam. Do y'all think this will cause an issue? Any thoughts on installing the skimmer on the clear section versus the liner material? The clear section is actually thicker than the liner, and in reality is holding most of the weight, so I think it's plenty strong

Wow, I’ve not seen that style in the wild before. Interesting!

Yes, you can absolutely cut the return larger, and use the eyeball to send water the opposite direction from the skimmer. That should set your water in a circular motion, which is what you want. And don’t worry about having the skimmer in that same section. My permanent AGP has them relatively close together and I get great circular motion.

While i installed my skimmer on my old Intex with the top screws just below the seam, others here have done it a bit higher with no issue. Can you take a closer photo of the section where the skimmer will go?

Here's front and back of both the clear and regular liner parts - LOTS of seams. I'm open to placing wherever. The clear vinyl is much thicker, but I don't know if its as pliable as the regular liner. Either way the seams are supporting the entire water weight. Water height will be 1-2" above the clear (per the instructions). thats 42".

Hmmm. I don’t think I would cut where there are two different materials welded together. Which leaves that small section without the clear insert. A

Honestly, it’s one thing to have the screw holes on top of a seam. That’s a minor intrusion. But to cut out a whole section of the seam for the skimmer, I don’t know. While you’d think the skimmer frame would function to stabilize the area, can‘t be sure. And you are the first one I’ve seen in the forum with this type of pool.

Augh. Thats my worry too.
I could always return the skimmer, and get one of those Intex ones that floats on top and clips to the edge of the pool. That's probably safest. The fittings and plumbing it came with are not what is shown in the instruction, I'm not really familiar with them at all.
