help redirecting return jet without locking ring

Hey - new pool owner here. I have a 10k pool with 1 skimmer, 2 drains, 4 return jets, and a waterful that also functions as a return. I'd like to try adjusting my return jets, as I find that I need to skim my pool constantly, especially the shallow end opposite the skimmer basket.

Looking around in the forums, I see a lot of threads about return jets that have a locking ring that you can hand tighthen/loosen to free up the eyeball. Mine doesn't see to have that feature (see attached photo, sorry it's a bit blurry)

Anyone know what these are, and how I can adjust them? Would it be worth trying to replace them with something else?

Todd,

You have a different kind of ring.. Notice the ring has two notches.. I think you are supposed to use a tool to turn that ring.. I suspect that you can use just about anything that will fit.. Maybe a pair of needle nose plyers.
