If I turn this main drain will it drain the pool water? Water is almost to the coping as it just rained. D4C76D9B-21CE-4DD0-A1A5-FBD2F02A4759.jpeg

Do you have a way to pump water to waste? It appears you have a cartridge filter which typically does not have that option.

I am surprised your pool does not have an overflow.

You should get a sump pump to drain the pool when necessary.

I have a cartridge filter and I just tried to stick the hose in the water to create a siphon but it’s not working. I’m kind of panicking as the pool was just filled on Monday

My overflow is nothing more than a 3/4 to one inch pipe on the sidewall, just underneath the coping. It will allow the water to get pretty high before it begins to drain. Look for a pipe, or some type of a grate on the tile just underneath the coping.

No, that looks like a light.

The overflow would be above the normal water level. Immediately under the coping, in the auto fill bucket, or in the skimmer.

No that's too low. It would be way up, just under the coping.

As Marty mentioned above, attach a hose to the hose bib attached to the pipe above the pump. You can drain water that way with the pump running.

I have the hose attached to the bin it’s working 😅 thankfully I’m on a conservation and can drain the water there. Thanks for the help y’all are awesome 👏

That looks too low as well. The overflow will be at a location that is above the normal water line. If you do have an overflow, it could the inside of the autofill basin. You may have a second plastic cover that looks like a skimmer cover on your deck. If you do, take a peek inside. If there is water in there, and some type of a valve, that will be your autofill system.

I don’t see that 😡 I’m supposed to have one it’s in the plans I signed. I’m guessing it’s too late to add.

There's different types of systems. Contact the pool builder and find out for sure. For now, looks like you're set. Bring the water level down to about halfway between the top and bottom of the skimmer mouth.

Yes. Like JJ_Tex posted. It should be at the tile level. In your case, in the middle of the tile level. When you drain the water out, the level should be mid-tile. First pool photo is your skimmer, about 1/2 way between bottom and top of the tile.
