***HELP*** Pool is green and NASTY.

how much chemicals should i be adding on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
This all depends on how hot the water is. How much sun it receives. Bather load. How much rain you get. Many variable that can only be compared with your region, better yet neighbors.

one of these a good option?

is there a better option?

I have the RJ60. If you go to discountsaltpool.com, they typically have $10 upgrade from a smaller model to a larger model so see if you can find that deal. If you dont have any automation to deal with then any supplier works (Hayward, pentair, etc)

I have the Core35, should come in a 50 or 55 flavor. Same manufacturer and from that online retailer. Its a more simple implementation of the RJ series (single unit, fewer % increments). This has advantages and disadvantages. To overcome the disadvantage (25% adjustment increments instead of 5 or 10% increments), I obtained a wifi enabled outdoor plug that makes setting a timer and turning on / off very easy so setting the SWG at 50% and adjusting the timer run time makes it feel very customizable.

My install ended up looking like this:

I have this: CircuPool RJ-60 PLUS. I like it and it is easy. I leave my VS on 24/7 so my SWG is running 25% as of now. Easy because the pump never stops so i dont need any other control for SWG.

Since you are down south the 60 will not be an overbuy. By the way you will have to buy bleach when you open your pool in the spring because you wont want to use the SWG to get thinks going. I also like to keep a few gallons on hand in case there is a mishap during the swim season.

I have been in SLAM mode going on 8 days now. this morning when i tested FC it actually went up about 1ppm so i thing i need to retry again tonight. At what point will the water begin to clear up? will it get clear with a FC of 20+?

Its not possible for FC to go up overnight if chlorine wasnt added. Do you have an idea on what happened?

I know it isn't possible to go up. Im sure i must have miss counted the drops or forgot what i counted and calculated wrong.

You dont rerun the CYA test again during the slam do you. Just run all calculations on the number you started the slam with?

Ok guys. I have been SLAMing for a week and a half.

Just checked my FC level and its 7.5. I have been adding LC based on a CYA of 50. I tested CYA just now for giggles and come up with a CYA of 0. Also tested PH and it is 7.4. Should i add stabilizer? If so is the clorox brand of chlorine stabilizer granules at Walmart sufficient? I started with 1 gallon of liquid conditioner from leslies and got it to a CYA of 50 when i started.

Post a picture of the CYA test. It would be near impossible to go from 50 to zero in 1.5 weeks.

CYA is probably not zero, just under 30. You can bring it back up to 30-50 again.
