HELP PLEASE - NOOB with Plaster yesterday

Hi all,

I have read and reread multiple posts on plaster and curing. We had plaster installed yesterday and today they came and polished it and acid washed it. We then had it filled today with trucks. I was then told that brushing was still important BUT not as important because of the thorough job on polishing today. Is this true?

Second, I had a pool maintenance guy tell me we dont need to add ANY chemicals until 14 days. I read you start checking and adding chemicals tomorrow as needed. What do I do?

Third, I work full time and long hours. I dont have the time on a daily basis to brush twice daily let alone daily. What happens if I do it every other day or is it worth it to pay someone?

Thanks in advance.

I would get chlorine and CYA in there ASAP. CYA addition based on Pool Math, and then chlorine to the level dictated by the CYA. I would also get the pH nice and low, at least 7.2 for a few days. Are you running the pump? Are you responsible for your own startup?

Any amount of brushing you can manage will help a lot. Do not get over stressed about it though. Brush whenever you can. The finish will benefit in the long run.

I will tell you that the TFP way is based on LOTS of observation and long term "testing" to see what works best long term. Do it as close as you can to what is in our article. Brush as often as you can.
