HELP! Our builder made the pool 6ft instead of 5ft.

They are installing the tile at the moment, we told him he used the wrong measurements and he said he’ll fix it with the plaster. Is that possible? Making the pool a whole foot shallower with plaster????

Normal plaster thickness is an inch or less.

They can do plaster 3 inches thick but you have to discuss with the installer as it will take more materials and time and probably cost.

Over 3 inches should get additional shotcrete and maybe rebar.

3” is the most I have seen of plaster thickness and only in the radius where the walls meet the floor. 3/4” to 1” is standard thickness.
To make up for 12” of over excavation Shotcrete is the most common solution. With that 9” is the most depth you want to add in Shotcrete before adding more rebar.
