Hi guys i came back after 3 weeks and tested FC - over 30.

When i left, Fc was 10, so i added some LC (50 ml) just to be safe.

SWCG was at 50%.

I now switched it off but any suggestion on lowering FC? And what might have caused it?

Thank you

What SWCG do you have. Likely just the fact you had it turned on higher than demand.

The other potential option is your testing methods, or your reagents have degraded.

Turn off the SWCG and let the FC come down. If you normally use a solar cover, take it off.

Hayward aquaright 900.
Reagents expires 6/25.
Yes no one swim for 3 weeks and swcg was at 50 which usually i keep at 20ish.
So maybe as you point out just too high level for no chlorine use.
I switch off and see...

So, this time of year the daily UV demand decreases day to day. You don't notice it but it adds up as it falls. When you miss a SWG adjustment time now, the cell over produces and FC climbs. Many of us do exactly what you did without being away, albeit we probably catch it before 32. 😁

Ya did good coming home to a pool more or less at SLAM level if the CYA is 70 as typical for SWGs. You could have come home to a swamp.

Remember this lesson in the spring as it's the exact opposite with daily demand climbing little by little.

If you miss an adjustment then, whether you are here or away, you make too little FC, then BOOM swamp.

How many days it will take to get to normal FC level with SWCG off?? I need to swim this weekend possibly

Retest your CYA. If still 80, you are safe to swim up to FC 32. In general (CYA/10)*4 = Max safe to swim level.

I was losing 7ppm a day when i was up in the 20s recently. It burns off as a % and the higher you go the more excess loss you see.

The daily loss should lessen as it falls.

Additionally during this period the CYA has dropped to 60 from 80/90 of 3 weeks ago. We got a few storm but strange such a large drop (i just tested this am)

Depending on exactly where you are, you may have been clobbered while you were away. Part of CT had a 1000 year storm 2 weekends ago and we got hit pretty hard too in the rest of the tri state area.
