Hi Everyone

This morning I was sitting in my kitchen and I heard a massive bang.. sounded like a bomb or something.

I went out and the pvc pipe exploded and water was going everywhere..I turned off the pump obviously.

I have a plumber coming out to fix it. But how did this happen. Any explanations.. I just cleaned my filter like 3 days ago. All is good with the equipment

Welcome to TFP.

Do you have a SWG?

Show is a pic of your equipment pad.

Yes I have that on a timer also. It's off when the pump is off. Salt cell may come on first before the pump .. both around the same time
Great. SWCG's generate hydrogen gas and if it runs without water flowing through it, it can result in an explosion. That does not sound like your issue. Though the shattering of the pipe looks very familiar to other reports of this happening.

Check that the timer is working properly and keeping the SWG off as you expect and check that the flow switch turns the SWG off when no flow.

See the salt cell may come on for a good few minutes before the pump comes on.. I have them both on for 10 hours a day.. but not accurately the same time. I never knew this to happen at all.

Salt cell should not come on before the pump ever.

You run the salt cell timer within the pump time. Give the salt cell timer a buffer and run the cell for 9 1/2 hours within a 10 hour pump runtime.

Check your flow switch since the flow switch should have prevented the SWG from turning on with no flow and it did not.

On,

Her boss has gas lock but I can't say where.

The only logical thing is that it was a gas explosion and most likely caused by the cell running without the pump running.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Did you look at the link to the thread Explosion near the SWG that Allen posted? Looks very similar.

I have no idea what a 'gas lock' is ----
