Hi - I just checked my weekly test (I know, I know, I should test the chlorine daily, but it's been very high). My chlorine is 0. My salt level is 3800. I had added 3 bags of salt per Pool Math about 4 or 5 days ago. My Intellichlor lights are blinking red and green. Low salt level. What is wrong? I'm going now to Wal-Mart or Lowe's to get liquid chlorine. My water temp is 91. It's been very hot. We are having 25 people over tomorrow. My pool has been so beautiful. I don't want it to be green.

Thanks,
LaDonna

La,

You can either have the salt lights flashing Red and Green, or you can have one that says Low salt.. You can't have both at the same time.

Do you have an automation system, like an EasyTouch or do you have a standalone IC40???

When you first turn on the cell, the salt lights will flash back and forth like a railroad crossing for about 5 minutes or so.. During this time the cell is testing the salt level. The flashing should then stop and you should either get a solid Green or Red salt light. What do you have???

Do you have a green flow light??? Without a green flow light, the salt test will never work.

What output % do you have selected??? What sanitizer light are on???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Use liquid chlorine ASAP & daily while you’re figuring out the swg.
Aim for high target FC/CYA Levels
How old is the cell?
Where did you get the 3800 number?
I put in lots of regular bleach. All liquid chlorine was sold out in our town. The cell is 1 year old. I have a TF-100 salt test kit, and my testing read 3800, which is what I thought it would read. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I had let my water get down farther than half-way down my tile so that in the morning, I could add water to cool the pool off. We went ahead and added bleach and added the water. I don't have the red light blinking anymore.

I have the Easy touch system. All is well now. I had the output on 65% since before I had it on 85%, and chlorine has been at 9 for about 6 weeks. That's actually why I wasn't checking it every day. I upped it a little bit tonight. All the lights are good now. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it, but I let my water get down a little bit so that in the morning, I could fill it with cold water and hopefully cool the pool off. We went ahead and filled it up tonight and that's when the lights started working like they normally do.

Maybe the pump was sucking air and couldn’t open the cell flow switch?
