Nothing is labeled on my Equipment. A year ago, I had my DE Pump Filter replaced with a cartridge Filter. (My now ex husband was "in charge" of pool maintenance"). I am now trying to get a handle of this. My pool service company has gone MIA as well. My robot vacuum isn't working due to the booster pump (i know which one that is) needing to be replaced. I have a new one on the way and will be getting that replaced. My cartridge filters have been cleaned and my pump lines have been cleaned. My pump pressure is still running high and i have a lot of green algae. I have no idea what/where all the pump lines go. Nor do I know which way the valves need to be turned. I have tried different ways but nothing seems to make a difference. The only thing I have identified is which one works the Pool "sprinklers". Can anyone please help me? The pictures arent great because my equipment was installed in the worst location. I have included a photo of my pool as well. I can try to answer any questions

Welcome to TFP! Others might do some image drawing to help, but I'll just get this started. Go to your main pool pump (with the clear lid). Everything from the pump backwards to the pool is called your SUCTION side. So you have some 3-way valves in front of the pump that determine where water gets pulled from by the pool (i.e. main drain, skimmer 1, skimmer 2, etc). Everything after the pump is called your PRESSURE side. After the pump is your filter with the pressure gauge on top. Then after the filter you follow the plumbing and you have a tall inline chlorinator that is designed to hold chlorine tablets. We'll come back to that later. You also have another pump (no lid and smaller flex lines) that provides pressure for a cleaner.

As I said, more replies will follow. But for the algae you need to follow the SLAM Process. It's all about chemistry (sanitation) and not what teh filter can do. So read that page. You'll also need a proper test kit - either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C. That's a must. Stay out of the pool store. I guarantee you they will happily take your $$$$ and not fix anything. Test your own water (properly), post back here, and we can help you through anything.

Zooming in on the pool photo, it looks like the pool has two skimmers. Is that correct?

Are there any drain covers on the bottom of the pool at the deep end?

Yes there are two skimmers - I I circled them in the attached photo. & yes there are 2 drain covers in the middle of the pool. Both ends of the pool are shallow. The middle of the pool is deep. I put an S near the "sprinklers". And then a V where the Vacuum attachment is. Hope that helps.

THANK YOU!

Thank you! I plan to label EVERYTHING once I identify everything and confirm the direction of the flow.

I'm starting to read up on the SLAM method now. My test kit keeps reading low chlorine even tho I have put a lot in it. so I know I am doing something wrong somewhere.

Zap,

Here is a pic of your suction side inputs to your pump. No one can tell you which pipe is which for sure, but I have labeled them what I think they are. You can easily run a test to see. Turn off one of the skimmer valves and then see which skimmer stops working. There are only three inputs, so you should be able to figure out which one goes where...
