Help! Japenese beetles.

Trade you the beetles for hundreds of bees! Get rid of the traps, they may actually attract more to your yard. There isn't much you can do, collecting by shaking them off plants into a container of soapy water is about it. Grub control before they emerge can help but they fly long distances so it isn't THE answer, either.

Edit to add: If you have irrational fear of them, I totally get it - but if you are just somewhat nervous about them, you have nothing to worry about. They can't harm humans other than wrecking your garden.

Beetle traps attract the beetles to your yard. You’d be better without them unless you can put them hundreds of feet from the pool.

If you have rose bushes around your house, get rid of them if you don't like Japanese beetles ! They are highly attracted to rose bushes of all types , like , the #1 attraction !
Also get rid of the traps .......they just attract more beetles than the traps can collect anyway .

Our house was infested with J Beetles for the past few years . Got rid of all the rose bushes , and beetle traps .........NO more beetles !

Last year I bought one of those Dynatrap insect products. It has cut down significantly on the amount of bugs and gnats that I find in the pool, especially the bugs that are flying overnight. I used to see sooo many floating on top of the surface when I would go out first thing in the morning. They do very well at catching Japanese beetles. They sell them at various big box stores and probably Amazon. One word of warning though, have a significant other that isn't as afraid of bugs empty it. Some are still alive when you are ready to dump them. You have to spray them with Raid to destroy the live insects.

Same issue here with them.
They are attracted by my vegetable garden, and end up in skimmer, usually 15 of them everyday which are stuck to the scum bug trying to save themselves eventually turning tan color.
They also like flowering crab apple trees.
One year I thought I would really make a difference and eliminate them.
I bought 4 traps and hung them around parameter of back lawn.
What a mistake, not only gets costly fast, but I had to dump ea. one every day, totally full and smelled horrid.
Now I just wave the white surrender flag and treat my leafy vegetable plants as they can destroy them. "Bayer" does make a tree and shrub early spring treatment liquid that you mix and pour around a tree that gets infested by them every year.
It works good but one bottle is $17.00 and treats about 3 trees depending on size of trunk. I use it on my Crab Apple and has really helped. If you have trees, check the leaves, maybe that's what's bringing them closer to pool.
