I am installing Raypak I-40 heat pump for spa. Currently have Hayward 1.85 THP VS pump and want to know how to get the heater to control the pump when flow is needed.

Do you have automation? Nothing in the I-40 manual indicates it has the capacity to control a pump. There is an automation connection on the heat-pump's board so that it can be connected.
1poolman1: Thanks for assisting. I do not have an automation controller. I will see if the low setting on the pump enough pressure/ flow will be to allow the heater to work. I so, I don't think I will need an automation controller.
