HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to turn

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I was just thinking....

So after all of that bleach which i know at least killed the algae, why wouldn't my water clear at least enough to see somewhat toward the bottom. I mean yes there are leaves down there but what kept the water from clearing?

I remember last year, the man down the street helped me with my pool and he got it clear enough to see the bottom and didn't use 1/100th of the amount of bleach i've used. It never got completely clear but we could see it enough to know where the leaves were.

Any ideas? Just worries me that the water didn't clear more.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

That and I'd guess you had a cya level last year. For now you've got nothing keeping the chlorine in the pool. Your water should start clearing very soon. With a ton of shocking ours turned clear on day 3 (you're more or less on day 2). Brushing, vacuuming to waste, and adding fresh water will help you a ton.

Do you have current test results?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Hey Leebo!!! No, have not tested today because i've not put in any bleach. I was thinking since i'm vacuuming to waste...it would just be wasted. I'm gonna vacuum again here in a minute and then one more time prior to the sun going down. Then i'll add more water. Then i'll put in bleach per the calculator with a FC of 0..wait one hour, then test.

Sound right?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Whoops....I missed an entire page. :D

When vacuuming to waste....what all is coming out of the pool? Is it still mostly leaves and such, or is it a greyish water? If it's mostly greyish water, then switch back over to filtering the water, as it's now mostly dead baqua bodies. If it's still leaves and sorts then I'd keep vacuuming to waste. I wasn't sure if you did a test this morning on how much FC you lost, or if the pool held any at all.

Something still just doesn't seem right with me? Even with the leaves using up alot of the chlorine you've put in, there should start to see a blueish tint to it with the amount of chlorine you've added to it. Has the water color changed at all today after vacuuming? I looked at the photo's of our swap, and by day 4 you could see the floor all the way around the floor no problem. You've hit it hard with chlorine and it should have something to show for it?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Last time i vacuumed it was still leaves along with the brownish water. I've not seen any algae coming out.

Last time i added bleach was last night when i posted.

This is the pic of my pool right after vacuuming about 4 hours ago...

This is a pic of the pool just now, 4 hours after vacuuming and having my pool set to filtering. Again, no bleach today.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I agree with having something to show for it. I don't understand why after all that bleach, it didn't clear up any. Even with the leaves on the floor of the pool, you would think i would be able to see part the way down because i do believe i have a good handle on the algae. I don't see it anymore. I thought that was making my water cloudy. Evidently not.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

It's surely making progress. It's slowly starting to turn to a blueish color. It maybe worth your while it add some chlorine a tad bit before you normally would. Add some once it starts to cool down some for the night....let it sit....then add again before you would normally do before you go to bed.

Which Baquacil product were you using? Did you use the CDX product at all?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Goodness Leebo i don't know. They just gave it to me and i used it like they said to. I don't recall seeing CDX but i do remember reading "sanitizer" on the bottle.

I'm ready to go vacuum again. I'll take more pics of what is coming up and out my waste hose.

Be back in a bit....

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Niki's progress & color seem about right to me. I "forgot (aka too lazy) to cover the pool last year (and the year before) so I had all kinds of leaves and a few frogs this spring and it took me a good 8-10 days before my water was clear again.

Judging by the color of the pool I also believe that you'll notice a change pretty soon. I couldn't see the bottom for close to a week, then I could make out the dirty spots on the bottom, and a couple days later pretty clear, and another day, bam, crystal clear.

Now I'm fighting with calcium scale on the lower sides and floor it's tearing up my kids' and their friends feet enough to make them bleed. My pH and TA were high, so I've been lowering them for the last week or so and scrubbing like a madman.

Fight the good fight

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Ok so vacuumed x3 rounds. The third time got very few leaves...maybe 8-10 going around the entire pool. Still no algae in sight. Just leaves. Filling up the pool again and i added 311oz bleach at the FC of 0 will test in an hour.

Yes Leebo, that is exactly what i put in...i'd say probably around 6 of those total and then 3 or 4 of the number 2 and then some pH increaser. That's all i remember...it is somewhat of a blur at this point.

Oh i did want to mention this too....when i was walking around on the bottom of the pool i felt some sand. Or i think it was sand. Something grainy that felt like sand. Not a lot of it and it was near my ummm, forgot what it was called...near the thing that shoots the water back into the pool.

When my son gets home i'll have him give a big stir and see if stuff still comes up. If it does, please send flowers to the looney bin on my birthday. Thank you.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Sorry bout your kid's feet and the bottom of the pool Jenson!!! I remember reading your thread and that is really bad.

You know you could try sandpaper....but given the pressure of the water you would have to go at warp speed to make a difference.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Ya know, if purple had a smell, it'd smell just like Aussie 3 minute miracle deeeeeep conditioner.

-end random thought-

I'm so glad you're still at it! I've been kind of in and out the last couple days. I've had to actually work at work! That's just nuts! Then I had a DMAT meeting yesterday... It kinda looks like I might have to work tomorrow at work too! My co-workers are starting to get freaked out by all this work I'm doing.

But I must say I don't like the talk about planting a tree where the pool was. Booooo

You'll be swimming in Crystal clear water in no time!

...and if you do win the lotto, can you take us on a Disney cruise? That was completely awesome when we went!

So after one hour....

And here is a pic from just now and one from before the last super vacuume...

Prior to the super vacuum...

Welcome back Kias!!! Boo at the working stuff....they should outlaw that somehow.

Yes, a Disney cruise it is!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Those numbers are sorta crazy aren't they? Doesn't that mean that i really don't have much crud in there at all? Doesn't that mean that the leaves were not affecting my numbers really?

My son is still not home to give it a super brushing. I've tried and didn't see anything come up but i'm sure he does it a lot harder and him doing it is the real test.
