Help!!! How to clean Gunite Pool w/ Diamond Brite

Hi everyone,

Please help. Just purchased home w/ gunite pool. I tried pressure washing and cannot get the stains out. Do I need to acid wash? If so, what is best method? Thanks!

If you do an acid wash that will remove some (not much but wanted you to know) of the plaster and it is yucky stuff to work with.

I have you tried putting bleach on the stains? I have found some old threads for you to look at:

I would not acid wash the pool. Those are most likely organic stains. Filling the pool and SLAMing it will get rid of the stains. SLAM Process

ok--thanks for the advice. i bleached and pressure washed. looks much better. think i might get some water in it and slam. appreciate the assistance!@\

I think your recommendation will be the way to go. I hit the stains w/ some bleach and a pressure washer on the general setting and it appears the stains are organic and dissolved in the bleach. I am going to fill and SLAM and hope I get rid of most of the discoloration. Now I have to figure out what's going on w/ my SAM lights. I have some water in the lens. Thanks again.

Good progress. Glad to hear you're filling it cause plaster doesn't like being dry!

They usually install the lights with enough cable to work on them up on the deck when the pool is full.
