Help. Fine sediment / sand settled at bottom of pool

I have shocked the pool and run a few times as was very green. Pool itself is running fine however I have an issue with this fine sand / sediment that has settled at the bottom of the pool.
My sweep just poofs all the fine sediment up and makes the pool turn a much greener foggy color and essentially just mixes the clearer water with the sand. It then just settles again and we are back to the start.
How can I get rid of the sediment at the bottom of my pool? Is there a way I can drain the bottom of the pool or is there a different vacuuming technique I can use?
I’m stuck and really want to start using my pool now the weather is nice.

I think you need to SLAM to get rid of the algae. The sediment is probably dead algae or other things that eat algae. Once you kill all of that stuff, your filter should be able to take care of clearing the water up.

Ok, thanks. Is there any use of vacuuming the sediment to waste?

Vacuuming the sediment might get rid of some of it, but algae will continue to grow in the rest of the water and that will make more sediment over time.

Do you have a chemical test kit? If so, what are your numbers? I'm particularly interested in your free chlorine, combined chlorine and cyanuric acid levels.

I had the same issue before, went through shock process and the water was clean, but fine green sediment was settled at bottom of pool. Tried robot cleaner but didn't work. Finally I used suction vacuum to get rid of them, my filter is DE filter, hope it helps

Same type of filter here. Did you suction to waste manually?

Yes, did it manually, after that, the pool was crystal clear, done!

So to make sure you understand what you have going on you must test the water with one of the recommended tes kits. You will possibly have to adjust some of the chemical levels prior to a slam. Order a kit asap ,in the meantime add 5ppm liquid chlorine per poolmaths daily .

did you just use the suction of the skimmer and run through to waste or use a separate pump? I did this and it did work however the pool drained so fast t ok waste I got to the skimmer level within 5 mins and I will need to constantly refill the pool back up to get rid of the amount I have.

I used skimmer, if the pool drains too fast, you can vacuum it to the filter then backwash the filter later, it may save you some water.
