Help, Can't seem to keep FC levels up

If you dosed enough CYA to get to a certain level, you simply accept that it is in there. It will show up on the test soon but you don't need to wait for testing confirmation if you dosed accurately

Brushing: Adding CYA through a sock can allow small particles of CYA to escape. They sink. If you see any small, white particles/powder on the bottom, brush it up. If left there, they can cause a little whitening of your liner.

Backwashing: Your sand filter has a valve on the top. There should be settings along them, and one is backwash. Here is a link that contains WAY more information than you need right now, but does explain very well how your filter works.
Deep Cleaning a Sand Filter

Hope that helps!

Great on the white stuff.

We say that 0.5CC or less is good. There is always CC produced as it is "used up" chlorine (in a sense).

Depending on when you test you may get 0 or 0.5. It's only when it reaches 1.0 that you need to worry about it.
So.... No worries.

In your 15K pool, a full 4lb container of stabilizer would increase your CYA to 32. If your water is still crystal clear and no signs of cloudiness or algae, then "yes" - we would increase CYA to 70 for your SWG pool. That would require another 5 lbs of stabilizer. The key here before you increase CYA is to make sure your water is clear with no cloudiness or anything that would require you to "SLAM" the pool. We like to SLAM at a lower CYA to use less bleach. But if everything looks good, then definitely increase the CYA right away. Your SWG is probably struggling to make FC without enough protection from the sun. Make sense?

While that is happening, remember you can always add a little extra "regular" bleach to the water to help augment the SWG. No problems there.
