Help a newbie fix a leaky pipe?

Hi everyone,

Thanks to the kind folk here at TFP, I have been learning how to take care of the pool at the house we just bought. It was green with algae when we bought it, and I was able to SLAM it and get it in good shape for the last few weeks. However, we recently went out of town, and when we came back, I noticed that we had a small leak by the pool pump.

The leak appears to be a dribble of water that continuously leaks out of a pipe on top of the pool pump. It has also resulted in my pump lowering to about 6 psi, when it typically runs at about 10-11 psi.

Does anyone know if this is an easy thing to fix or not? I am not particularly handy, but would rather fix it myself if possible. If not, I can also hire a pool company, but right now I'm just trying to figure out what I'm dealing with.

The video I took is too large to upload, but I've attached a picture showing where the leak is in a red rectangle. I can also provide the model name and number of the pool pump, if that would be helpful. Otherwise, any help would be really appreciated.IMG_20221116_164853__01.jpg

You can cut about that pvc coupling and go back into the pump with a 2inch schedule 80 nipple. Or a 2inch schedule 80 male adapter. Or just replace the union it has with other hayward union. That looks like an old pump so they may have a new style union and and old style. I'd go without the union.
Or you can loosen that union nut on both the suction and return side and patch it from the inside with Some good PVC glue. That will buy you some time, a few months, or even years.
