Hello fellow pool owners. We built our plaster pool and spa in the fall of 2016 and closed it about a month after the initial fill. Since then we have truly enjoyed every moment of it's operation. I have learned so much about water chemistry and pool maintenance in the past five years. We have two grand daughters that "live" in the water all summer long! The pool is salt/mineral and we have the in-ground cleaning system installed. All of the equipment is Pentair and the spa is heated by natural gas. I am looking at performing the first acid wash on the spa this year, and if all goes well, then follow up with a pool acid wash.
Have a great summer!

Welcome to TFP :)

Please do some research on acid wash.. They can take years of your plaster.. Is there a certain reason you are doing it?

I tried an acid wash to remove scale buildup which makes sitting in the spa a bit painful at times when skin comes in contact rubbing over the plaster. The acid wash did not remove enough of the scale and made what was left worse by removing a bit of the underlying plaster leaving the remaining scale even more abrasive.
