Hello, I am excited to join TFP! I consider myself relatively experienced at caring for pools, but have recently been experimenting with using a well known national pool care chain for weekly testing and recommendations about balancing my pool chemicals. I am excited to “wean” myself from this, and learn how to better handle the testing and balancing myself! I am curious what special considerations there are for the specific geographic region I reside in (in other words - what implication does the extreme summer heat in the Phoenix area have for pool care - I already have my ideas about this from experience…)

Welcome to TFP.

Don't wean yourself from the national pool chain. Walk out and never return.

Your issue is not your extreme summer heat for which you keep your CYA high but the CH level in your water and the high evaporation you get.

In your area your CH will rise over time and you need to manage your CSI to prevent scaling. Folks here can help you manage your CH until it gets into the 800's at which time you will need to drain your pool to lower it.
