Slovakia, Europe
Hello everyone,
I stumbled upon this forum and its nice welcoming members when trying to find a solution for my problem with FLOC not wanting to leave my pool :)
I am posting from Slovakia in Europe, its getting almost 30 degrees celsius and I am currently desperately stuck waiting for the floc to fall down, so I can vaacum (to waste, as I have learned) at least a bit of the surface before it again whirls everywhere and clouds the whole pool.
I am not even going to start talking about all the useless, overpriced containers of various chemicals we have bought to try to get this pool running.
Anyways, its just an ordinary 3,66metres in diameter above ground pool that we have slightly recessed into the ground with sand filtration. This is the second season that we use the pool, so it was my first experience winterizing the pool, and first time I seem to have some issues with it.

This is how it looks now, there is some progress already. Hopefully I will not have to post into the help section anytime soon :)

Welcome to the forum!
@jokael may be able to provide you some guidance on getting a proper test kit.
As far as floc. Don't use it again. Once you get most of it out, you will just have to filter. What filter type do you have?
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

a proper test kit.
yes, I need to look into this, especially some (or equivalents) that are available in Europe - so far I have mostly seen test tablets/drops for chlorine and pH check or those test strips.

I have realised quite shortly afterwards that it was a big mistake. The idea seems quite straightforward and elegant, but the execution apparently is not so much ahah.

Hello - Someone called me 😁
I am from Denmark and had trouble finding a fas-dpd kit as well.
After some research I realized, that the reagents not allowed for overseas shipping are the ones for TA and CH.
All the others are fine, so I ordered the K-2009 kit from Amazon.com, which comes without these reagents but otherwise is similar to the K-2006 (not c)
I ordered additional reagents on the side, as the kit only comes with the small bottles.

And of course, welcome to TFP 👏🏻
This place taught me about POP (pool owner patience), and cheered me on, getting my pool from this:

in just a few weeks. (Please ignore the stained liner……..)
When I was about to give in to floc, algaecides and other snake-oil stuff, there was always someone to say: “give it time”, “we know it will turn out great”, “trust the tfp-method”.
And of course they were right - and I’m so happy I got here with only filtrering and liquid chlorine.
Let me be the first to say “trust these guys at tfp. They know what they are talking about” 🎉🎉👏🏻🎉🎉
You have bought your last bottle of floc, last bucket of trichlor and pucks, last batch of pH-down/up and whatever stuff.
Once you get a tfp it is worth it - but you need to go cold turkey and trust the method 😁
