Hi all.

My wife and I recently bought a house with an 18x36 25k gal inground vinyl-liner pool. The liner was replaced by a very reputable company last season.
We added a 5 person hot-tub back in February, and I found this site while researching care-and-feeding for that. That has been fantastic!!
The Pool was opened last week, so far so good, although I think I need to drain a little water to get it to the right levels.

Reading a lot of great information and advice, love the PoolMath app !

We have a grandson with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and hydrotherapy/swimming is fantastic for him, so keeping the pool in tip-top shape is going to be important so that he can get as much use out of it as possible.

Hi there Steve,
Welcome to TFP :handwave: Your signature shows that you're right on board with pool care our way. Well done :goodjob:

Are there specific exercises you do with the grandbaby? I am sure the warm water is a comfort.

Not really specific exercises, just general play and activity. DMD is a genetic disease that stops the production of dystrophin in the muscles, leading to progressive weakness. Exercise is good, but only very low impact - most exercise 'breaks' muscle fibers which are then rebuilt stronger and stronger...in the case of DMD, you don't rebuild those muscles well (if at all), so low impact exercise is essential.

How do you get a 10 year old to willingly participate in physiotherapy and exercise ? Put them in a pool with toys and sit back. He goes to formal physio twice a week, plus he is on a regimen of steroids and so on to slow the progression of the disease while we wait and hope for a more permanent cure for his particular expression of the disease.
