Hello my name is Michael and im a.... oh wait wrong forum:D
I have had the pool since 2005 when I bought the house and have struggled through the years trying to find the balance between cost and demands on time. To be honest I HATE THIS POOL! Okay now that I have that out of my system, a little back history. I have gone through trying to keep it up myself and paying someone $$$$ to take care of it and have always been fighting the dreaded green pool. Well for the last year or so ive been doing the tabs in the floater and shocking every week with pool store testing the water and dumping more and more chemicals into the water only to have algae come back again and again. I was looking into just filling it in and planting grass on the mound but decided that wasn't probably the best route to take. So I decided to jump in with both feet after I found this forum and have been lurking around awhile, I joined and ordered my test kit, decided to replace the heater that doesnt work with a RayPak PR406A and update the Aqualink RS control system with the IQ 20 RS. Im holding off on the SWCG system until I get the water balanced and can keep it going for awhile. Still waiting for the equipment to deliver but received the test kit yesterday so here are the First test results.

FC 2.0
PH 7.5
TA 80
CH 250
CYA 90

Great job on a great test kit! And Welcome to the forum!

If you have algae, it would be best to exchange about 50% of your water to reduce your CYA. There are multiple methods to do that. Do you have a shallow water table? Take a look at your conditions and decide how you want to proceed.

You can SLAM at CYA of 90, it takes maintaining a FC of 35. Not the end of the world, but challenging.

Your other water chemistry results are fine.

Take care.

Pool in question on a good day
