Breaker. I was able to start it once but using a screwdriver in back but can’t anymore

I replaced the capacitor on top see the pic. I bice
Thatsbthe
Run capacitor. There is no start capacity can find. It is a single
Phase 2 speed motor . Olease
advise
Thanks

ps I installed a brand new wet end too

Are you trying to start on high or low speed?

Can you show the back of the motor?

Does it look like this?

Sometimes the controller will try to power both windings at the same time if a relay is stuck or there is another defect.

Make sure that both winding are being powered at the same time.

If you are starting on high, disconnect the low speed wire and tape it off to make sure that it is not powering the low speed windings.

If you are starting on low, disconnect the high speed wire and tape it off to make sure that it is not powering the high speed windings.

It looks like a Type CXPM "switchless" PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) high speed (with a run capacitor) and a low speed with no capacitors (Split Phase).

Low speed has a start winding with no start capacitor.

If you are trying to start on low speed, then the centrifugal switch might not be making good contact.

The motor is from July 2006.

Shut off the breaker, remove the capacitor and measure resistance from 1 to 2, from 1 to 3 and from 1 to ground.

Don't let the capacitor leads touch anything during the tests.

I have a spa pump and motor
4hp exec 56 2 speed (3721621)

Waterway pump

How many capacitors are there? I can only located the one big one (run) on top

Any siggestions
It’s an old ao smith motor
Likely the bearings are frozen in an old spa pump. Only the one capacitor in that motor. Replacing the capacitor won't help. You might be able to get them (bearings) replaced, but there is likely more damage to the motor than just bearings. Since you have a new wet-end, a new motor is best. Unfortunately they cost nearly as much as a new pump.
