Hello everyone. I am glad to have a site I can ask questions about the pool.

I live in south western Ontario in Canada. We have only had a pool for 5 years now. Struggling to get chemicals right. Was relying on the pool store to help but cost a lot of money and from my research don’t need to do much of what they say. My alkalinity is high at 200 or so. My Ph I think is 7.4 ish ( according to tester with liquid you add). My chlorine is high too now after adding Power Chlorine as r3commended from pool company ( chlorine was extremely low prior). We just switched from a r3gular pool pump tp the Hayward variable speed pump. Still trying to figure out the best speed for hydro savings but also keeps pool good. I don’t have an electronic tester but plan to get one. As you can probably tell I am struggling. I feel like I am chasing my tail. Any help would be highly appreciated

I have a mineral pool so my challenges are not the same but what I did find was that I found the chemicals I need are available on Amazon. They're less expensive than the pool store.
