Hello everyone, just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone involved with this site. We've had a 24'x52" agp for 4 years now (had one at previous house for several years before that). I've always used trichlor tabs and other "essential" pool chemicals. It's worked fine until about the middle of August when I inevitably always had an algae bloom. I'd spend a month (along with $$$) getting rid of it only in time to close it for the season. Lather, rinse, repeat. I've never had a problem opening up the pool until this year. We had an unseasonably warm winter this year, which combine with other factors I won't go into, let to our normally clear opening water looking more like a very dirty lake. My initial thought was to drain, scrub, and refill the pool, but decided to look around for other options. I just hated to put the stress on the liner and also waste that much water. So I discovered TFP and began reading like a mad man. I bought a K2006 test kit and junked the $10 kit from Menards. I went through the SLAM process and after a few days it finally changed into the cloudy teal water you see below. I continued to brush and skim and backwash the filter and 4 days later, the water finally cleared up. I'm sold! In addition, I decided to give hard-plumbing the pool a try and again found a thread here outlining exactly what was needed and how to do it. I've never worked with PVC before but managed the job over the course of a few hours. So now instead of fighting with water, loading pucks into a floater, and adding bags upon bags of shock, we're actually out enjoying the most crystal clear water we've ever had. I don't comment much, but am a certified lurker, so thanks again for all you do here!
