Heatpump controls

Has anyone found a way to add a cover to the pentair heatpump controller. I just replaced the controller and have been told the sun is what destroys them. This is similar to what mine looks like.

Looks like you could just tape a piece of plastic over it. Put waterproof tape just on the top edge so you can swing it up to use the controls.
