Heater stops igniting after rain

Im having the same issue with an lxi400, and it's definately rain. It says on the door that contains the hot surface igniter "do not install under eve". Pool builders installed under eve with no rain gutter. there's a waterfall pouring right on the louvered top. When I got off the bottom 2 screw for that surface igniter door water spurted out. There was about 1.25" of water in that bottom pan. I sponged it all out, wiped it with paper towels and it fired up immediately. Of course, all of this was after I spent $270 on a new ignition control, which didn't do anything.

I too have had the same issue for years. 24 hrs after rain the heater fires up perfectly. Smell gas, igniter is firing. Just won’t fully ignite instantly like usual.

someone in this thread mentioned grounding wires being wet - they definitely are. Could that be issue?

you ever find a solution?
