We want to purchase and install. I am very diy… There is just soooo much misinformation out there and a thousand threads to read… can some please eli5 what the top few options to buy, that will increase just 5-10 degrees please. Then i will dive deeper into those options later… Very shaded area, so no solar. Would prefer electric so we dont have to run a gas line. A bubble cover is always on at night. Thank you in advance.

Hi I live in pittsburgh. And had a heat pump for 4 years. It takes way too long to heat the water and does not work well when the nights get cool. I switched to a gas heater and there is a world of difference. The gas heater can raise the tempeture 2 to 3 degree per hour and I can start it the day i need it for a pool party.the gas heater was installed in 2016 so perhaps electric heat pumps are better designed now but it is something to check out. Perhaps there is an electric pool heater that is similar to a hot tub heater instead of a heat pump.

The more the BTUs the better.

A 120k BTU Heat Pump will heat your 8,000 gallon pool about 2 degrees per hour.

Your Intex pump is probably not powerful enough to circulate water through a heat pump.
