Hi, I am adding a heat pump to my pool. I think I want to add a bypass. Attached a diagram of my current and proposed plumbing.
Is this the proper way, or should I add a second valve?? Any other suggestion on my plan??
Thanks a lot!!!
You should add a check valve on the output of the HP before the T. On bypass the 3-way valve will stop water going into the HP input and the CV will stop water going into the HP output.
As you have it now you can bypass the HP but cannot remove the HP for service without the water back flowing into the HP output line.
