hayward vs AO Smith motor

Anyone know the better of these two motors? I purchased the Hayward ( SP1610X15m) about three years ago. Now it has stopped working (second replacement) first one last about 3 years as well. So, now I am frustrated. I only use it a 5 months a years. So that is very little use on these motors.
Are the AO Smith motors any different?
Is there a replacement I can use and still keep the same pump and housing? I really do not want to re-plum another filter..

Hayward does not make their own pump motors (nor does Pentair or Jandy). That is just a rebadged AO Smith motor.

Yes, you can just replace the motor with any compatible motor. What maters is the motor frame (56J) and the THP (1.5).
