Hayward T9 Cell

I have an Aqua Rite Generator running 1.59 firmware. I replaced Goldline T9 cell with a hayward goldline w3t-cell-9. I recalibrated the generator and reset the generator to the t9 cell indication again.

At 90%, I am only producing a chlorine level of 2 at the waterfall (testing water directly from the cell before mixing with pool water). The chlorine level in the poll is 0 to a .5. These were confirmed with pool store testing.

Salt level is 3000, and aqua rite is saying 3400. When i tred to lower the salt level on the generator during recalibration, it wouldn't scroll lower that 3400.

Any suggestions to get the cell fully functional?
Thanks

This is the basic information we need to know in diagnosing a problem:
  • Report all diagnostic readings when you..
    • Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
    • Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
    • Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
  • What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?
  • What is the actual salinity and how are you measuring it?
There is no calibration on the Aquarite....

Salinity level was determined at pool store this morning, in line with last 3 testing by pool store.

1st column is turing off
2nd column is turning on to auto
3rd column is turning off and wait
4th column is back to auto and scrolling through twice

Column 2 should have been generating and it is not. It is showing 0 amps as the fourth parameter.

Column 4 was generating with the change in volts and amps.

It looks like one polarity of your cell is dead.

Redo the test again and if you get the same result make a warranty claim with Hayward.

Inspect the T-cell connector for any signs of overheating.

Pressing the diagnostic button sequentially will display:
  • Default salt display
  • Pool temp
  • Cell Voltage - When not generating, the voltage is about 30 to 32 volts dc. When generating, the voltage drops about 1 volt per amp of current.
  • Cell current
  • Desired output (% of the knob)
  • Instant salinity
  • Product name
  • Software revision (r.XX)
  • Cell type

31.1 volts and 0 amps is your normal idle not generating

26.2 volts and 5.17 amps is good generating
