I have accumulated several Hayward Super Pump Housings over the years. I want to rebuild these with new motors, replacing all seals etc. Are the housing horsepower specific? Meaning, can I use 1.0hp, 1.5hp, 2.0hp, 2.5hp motors in any of these housings? How do I differentiate the drivetrain's horsepower parts? Any answers from members in New Jersey appreciated? Thank you for your anticipated answers.

It's not uncommon to replace the motors on these pumps, and in some cases go up or down in HP. The big thing to watch is ensuring you match the new motor (HP) with the correct impeller. If not, you can place too much strain on the motor itself. Someone like @mas985 may have more to say about it.

The housing is the same for all version and the diffuser is the same for 2HP and below. Above 2.0 HP, the diffuser changes. And of course the impeller is different for all the versions.
