Hayward SP3400 VSP Whining Noise...

I have had a whining noise on my 4 year old Hayward ecostar SP3400 VSP Whining Noise increasing over last few months.

I am guessing it is bearing issue which requires whole motor replacement on this model.

Was also reading on here that the ecostar pumps are trash and to get tristar.

Is it worth the extra $500 to get tris star instead of just replacing the pump?

I have an omni logic control system, how easy is it to configure with the tristar opposed to existing ecostar?

Call Hayward. Though the pump may be out of warranty, they have been pretty good at giving discounts in the purchase of a TriStar.

The Tristar will seamlessly connect to your automation.

Tried the hayward route and was a no go. Getting the tristar now through my pool guy.

Interesting. Many other members have reported that Hayward provided discounts to failed Ecostar owners.
