I opened my pool for the first time myself this year and want to double check if it matters which way the Hayward Skimmer To Main Drain Diverter Valve is installed.
In the photo below the red square is where the suction is and the other is the floor drain. The second photo is how it is currently installed (and what I think I remember it looking like last year…) with the opening being lined up with the red square.
