My wife and I were enjoying coffee in our spa this morning when all of a sudden we heard a bang and the spa jets stopped. I run over to the pool equipment and see that the closure dome on top of the sand filter has blown completely off and water is gushing out the top. After shutting the pump off, I see that the lip on the filter tank that the dome clamp attaches to has split on one side. Is there any option to repair that split with some sort of super glue or do I need to replace the entire tank? It's a Hayward S311SX.

My thoughts exactly. We're heading out of town this afternoon for the weekend. I've been online all morning and it looks like it's cheaper to buy a whole new system than just the tank itself.
I would definitely replace. You can try an epoxy but it might fail again and you time/aggravation spent woukdnt be worth it. Maybe you can just replace the actual part that broke but again it might be time to replace the whole unit. How old is it?

It can't be repaired - replace it. However, you also need to find the cause of the failure - sounds like a blockage in the filter media, MPV or returns.
Filters occasionally crack due to fatigue. They expand and contract as pressure is applied and removed.
A crack cannot be fixed. You should just replace the whole filter if you can't find a reasonably priced tank.
Filter pressure should always be kept below 15 psi for maximum filter life.
The filter is rated for higher pressure, but the life of the filter drops off fast at higher pressure.
