It seems like about every other year my Hayward Swimpure SWG panel goes on the fritz. Each time it’s the same- no power except for the LCD, but if I throw the breaker and back the power goes on until it tries to start generating. The last time I researched the issue to a thermsistor and replaced it myself. Also slapped on three heatsinks on the case.

I bought an extra thermsistor- hope I can find it!

Okay, end of vent.

Glenn,
Do you know the original type number of the thermistor on your SWP15? What are you replacing it with?

AFAIK, the AQR series use Ametherm AS32 2R025. The inrush current limiter on my SWP15 is made by Cantherm, type# MF73T-1, 2/18 and it has yet to fail on me.
If your original thermistor only lasted 2 years, then I see no reason why I shouldn't order the replacement thermistor ahead of time.

Yes, you should be good with the 2R025 thermistor compare to the original MF73T-1 on the SwimPure Plus models.
By comparison, the 2R025 @ 25A (30mm) should outlast the 18A, MF73T @ 25mm. Our SWP15 is now on it's 2nd year. So let's see....

Diagnostic Displays
Sequential pushes of the small "diagnostic" button next to the LCD display will cause the Aqua Rite to display the following information:
1. Pool temperature (xx degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius)
2. Cell voltage (xx.x volts)
3. Cell current (x.xx amps)
4. Desired Output % ("0P" -- "100P" depending on knob position or input from remote
pool automation controller)
5. Instant salinity ( -xxxx ppm or -x.xx grams/Liter)
6. Product name sent to the pool automation control display ("AL-0" which signifies "Aqua Rite")
7. Software revision level (r1.xx)
8. Chlorinator cell type (t-3, t-5, t-9, t-15)

On the 9th push of the button the display will revert back to the default salt display.
Also, if the button is not pushed for 30 seconds, the display will revert back to the standard salt display.

These are the diagnostic readings.

I had the chlorination switch off and only the LCD and power indicator were on. Switching to on, generating light was on about 10 seconds and both power and generating LEDs went out. Diagnostics, with chlorination switch on, but no lit LEDs:

1. 86
2.15.4
3. 0.00
4. 30 P
5. - 0
6. AL-0
7. r 1.58
8. t-15 (with a t-15 Cell)
9. 0

I threw the breakers and opened the panel. Current limiter AS32 2R025 that was installed 4/2016 is definitely cracked like the one it replaced. And I did not put the spare in the housing :( .

Two years ago I moved the panel away from the wall with 2x4s and installed 3 large heat sinks to try to dissipate the heat from the panel.

I’ll be placing an order soon. Sort of considering getting a spare board so I can do a quick swap then take my time with replacing the limiter. Knowing me I’d lose it before the next failure.

James, do you know if any of the new replacement boards include the new design that Hayward has for this issue? It would be nice to determine if there is a Revision listed on the boards so we know if it has the latest technology.

My current limiters came in today! As usual the most difficult part of the job is desoldering the old part. Once done, the rest is a breeze! Job took about an hour or less not counting the quest for tools.

New diagnostics:
1. 86
2. 25.4
3. 5.94
4. 31 P
5. -2800
6. AL-0
7. r 1.58
8. t-15
