Sounds like a bearing. I found the owner’s manual online. I think husband can fix it himself. He said seal needs replaced too. Anyone have any suggestions, tips?

The windings are overheating. Time for a new motor.
Ok thanks!! I’m running at 20 pressure and I’m going to do a sand filter deep clean tomorrow. Always 10 in past with 15 being worst. I’ve tried an extended backwash and rinse with only improvement of 2 psi. I’m guessing that is stressing the motor. Any suggestions other than the motor replacement and deep cleaning filter?

High pressure won't stress the motor as long as the water is moving.

Are you sure that the pressure is accurate?

Does the pressure gauge go to zero when the pump is off?
