I’ve been on a miserable journey trying to get my electric Hayward Heat Pump to work properly. Long story short and $1600 dollars in electrician charges I still don’t have an answer and Hayward will not send a technician to help.
-Heat Pump all of the sudden start tripping my breaker. Unit is 8 months old.
-Upgraded to #6 Wire, 70amp on the main and 50 amp in the pool panel. Still tripping. 60 amp GFCI tried, trips immediately.
-Hayward claims it’s electrical and won’t send the local tech to look at it. I also don’t have any local techs that want to deal with warranties.
*Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the info in advance.

Welcome to TFP.

Put a clamp on ammeter on the electrical line and see what amps is being drawn.

See if the high amps occurs when the compressor is engaged by the contactor. If so then the compressor is defective.

These are typical diagnostic steps any good HVAC tech will do. Including checking refrigerant pressures.
