Hayward H500FDN bd code

New home to me. In ground pool with hayward heater as posted above.
Display is showing bd error code(lower case) According to the serial number, the heater was built in june of 2017.
I searched the forum before posting but did not find a previous post for the H500FDN.
I did see a post re an H250 with the same code. Im not sure if the troubleshooting guide for the H250 also applies to the H500. Any guidance you can provode is greately appreciated. Thanks in advance

H250 and H500 should have the same controls.

See page 13 of manual. bD error codes all relate to ignition problems.

Troubleshooting Looks pretty self explanatory as long as the heater does not have personality issues... IOW, the diagnostic chart is written and thought (by the author) to be an "end all be all" for diagnosing this heater since it was written by engineers. There are things that happen in the real world that wont help you diagnose the real problem. Case in point The Aquapure 1400. There are 3 to 4 codes that the unit would display telling you to look in 3 to 4 directions for the solution, when in reality the flow switch was the cause...

...I digress

Hopefully, if you follow the chart that has been posted by ajw22, you will find the cause, and be able to repair your heater. All i am saying is that, heater repair can be an expensive proposition. Don't be surprised if it begins to snowball! If the troubleshooting begins to point toward the blower, or the control module, It may be more cost effective to have someone look at it. It can give you more recourse in the event the "first fix" does not correct the problem.

Two years? Is the heater still under warranty? I'm not a Hayward guy (so i dont know the warranty on that heater). But i would check into that first
